Kitchen Recycling Benefits 2010
Financial benefits. Green Demolitions kitchen recycling program reduces the cost of kitchen projects in four ways:
- Tax deduction. Green Demolitions, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, offers a tax deduction to people donating kitchens and other items. To help determine fair market value (FMV) Green Demolitions provides the donor with a year-end report detailing the resale amount or the price listed for sale at stores.
- Free, professional insured removal (approved kitchens). Green Demolitions offers free, professional insured crews to remove pre-qualified kitchens (generally kitchens having a resale value of $3,000 or more). In 2009, Green Demolitions received 362 kitchen donations (a majority were removed by Green Demolitions’ crews).
- No disposal costs. Green Demolitions’ donation program eliminates the need for construction debris containers.
- Free pick up. Green Demolitions offers free, professional pick up in our fleet of three 26’ Penske box trucks. Our trucks are outfitted with lift gate and the necessary equipment to carefully transport kitchens to Green Demolitions stores.

- Financial benefits. Everyone wins through Green Demolitions’ donation program. Donors receive cost reductions, industry professionals reduce overall project costs, and Green Demolitions earns funding through the sale of recycled kitchens at our three stores.
- Environmental benefits. The environment benefits by the reduction of landfill waste, reusing materials, and conservation of forest resources. In 2008, Green Demolitions diverted approximately 800,000 pounds from the landfills including 344 kitchens.
- Charitable benefits. Green Demolitions is 96.8% self supporting through the operation of the donation program and retail stores. Sales of recycled kitchen, appliances, bathrooms, and home décor fund addiction recovery outreach programs. Outreach programs include: 1)
77-acre meeting center in the Catskills open to addicts of all kinds and their families, 2)
24 Communications – a resource for addicts worldwide providing books, literature, websites, newsletters, and electronic media, 3)
Basket Landing a traditional music group and dance troupe performing for schools, prisons, and youth programs.
